Priors Barn - Widdington near Saffron Walden

One of the finest surviving medieval barns in eastern England, tree-ring dated to the mid 15th century, with a breathtaking aisled interior and crown post roof, the product of some 400 oaks.

Thaxted and Great Dunmow

Easton Lodge was a Victorian Gothic style stately home to the west of Great Dunmow, Essex in England. Once famous for its weekend society gatherings frequented by the Prince of Wales, it was one of many country houses destroyed during the 20th century. Part of the west wing still stands; and the Grade II listed gardens designed by Harold Peto have been largely restored and opened to the public.

Cressing Temple Barns near Braintree Village

Gifted to the Knights Templar in 1137, its Grade I-listed Barley and Wheat Barns, built in the 13th century, are among the oldest timber barns and few surviving Templar buildings in England. Displays inside outline the history of the Templars and the site.

Blake House Craft Centre near Braintree and Great Bardfield

Blake House Craft Centre is one of the region’s true hidden gems and full of rustic charm. Once a traditional farmyard, with a beautiful Essex corn barn in a courtyard of restored 18th and 19th century listed buildings of stables, cattle sheds and cart lodges, this wonderful site has been transformed into a flourishing craft centre which houses a wide range of small and friendly local businesses.

Mountfitchet Castle and Norman Village

Mountfitchet Castle is a unique open-air museum experience where the visitor can travel back in time over 900 years and truly witness life in a medieval Motte and Bailey castle

Petersfield Village near Castle Hedingham

Petersfield Village is now into its third year of trading.  We now are pleased to announce that our  farm shop is now fully licenced so you can enjoy a wonderful Hawkstones Lager, some local Taproom ales or some British and European Fine wines. Petersfield holds regular events, including Classic Car Shows, weekly Boot Sales in the summer,  Food, Drink and Antique Fayres. – There are now 13 individual shops, 16 open floor spaces and over 160 cabinets brimming with jewellery, coins, toys, model cars, furniture and art. We also have a Tearooms open 7 days a week.

Colne Valley Railway near Castle Hedingham

The Colne Valley Railway is a heritage steam & diesel railway in Essex near Sible Hedingham, Castle Hedingham & Halstead. As well as train rides on the full size railway, we also have a 7¼ gauge miniature railway and a large model railway. Additionally, we host one of the few publicly accessible signal boxes across the country.
